Information

The art piece is based on the Yoruba legend of the Orshias. The "Way of the Saints" is a series of patakis and stories that shared the events that Yemaya and the rest of the Orshias went through when they were once Human. Yemaya is the ruler of the sea and is said to be the mother of the world. She also represents the history of the slave trade. I wanted to try to capture her in a realistic portrait done in pencil. I highly recommend listening to my recorded explanation of this piece. Thank you!
