Oil painting over canvas. 72"x48". Transcendence depicts a woman meditating over the water of a calm lake. The meditation takes her to confront the terrible deities of her own fears and mental projections that need to be transcended in order to achieve the state of the Buddha. The Buddha is on the top beyond earthly, karmic attachment. Painting based on icons painted inside Buddhist monasteries seen during a recent trip through Ladakh in the high, Indian Himalayan mountains.
