Information

This work is inspired by a Japanese painting based on the story 'Heroes of the Suikoden' which itself was based on a Chinese novel. It shows one of the heroes getting a tattoo in the traditional style of 'tebori' or 'hand carving' which is very painful and time consuming. The original painting shows the tattoo artist as fully clothed, but I thought it would be appropriate to have him fully inked as well.
