Information

This is a studio Recreation of Vermeer's Classic Dutch Masterpiece, the "Mona Lisa of the North", on permanent view in the Mauritshuis in The Hague in the Netherlands. The subject of a book and a film of the same name, I chose rather than depict the girl as a subdued, 17th Century servant, to represent her as a confident 21st century person, expressing their assertive personhood in a modern way.
