when i first discovered the original version of "death of Marat" in an art history book in design school i was immediately fascinated with it and felt it was unlike any portrait i had ever seen before. the pose the details, the mood of the painting all illicit a sense of sorrow and desolation and begs the viewer to want to discover the story behind the piece
i created this self-portrait homage for a photo group i was a part of that had weekly photo themes and this theme was to recreate a famous work of art
