This woodblock print presents the spiny lobster, often called a Bug. The iconic decapod is presented with all ten legs splayed out and in red, its color after cooking.
The lobster was carved in basswood and printed in warm black ink, with wood grain and carving marks visible. The background was created using monoprint techniques. The textures and colors suggest a coral reef, the bug's natural habitat. Printed on fine Japanese paper, this print is number 6 out of an edition of 12, signed and numbered in pencil on the back.
