Information

"Finding My Center" is named for the spiraling petals around the center of the rose, but also because photographing beautiful things and places helps me to center myself and feel a connection to nature. I captured this image at Shore Acres State Park near Coos Bay, OR, home to incredible rugged cliffs and wild Pacific Ocean vistas. I was drawn to the gorgeous colors and delicate shapes of the center of this particular rose. The conditions were perfect for photographing flowers on this overcast day, with just enough light to create the glow in the petals. I spent a lot of time in this beautiful garden - I had no problem finding my center here!
