Information

Follow me into the dark. Our destination is a dank, cold dungeon, illuminated by two torches. Standing in the dim light is two skeletons and a large metal table.

"We've been expecting you for a long, long time" They both say with a malevolent whisper.

"I belong here" I say to myself

They beckon to me to come closer, and I follow.

I look up and to my horror I see a rounded blade hanging from the tall ceiling, adorned with a bow

"A gift for you" says the skeleton with one arm

"A gift for me" I repeat

Tears begin to fill my eyes; they sting. The humidity makes is difficult to breath.

The skeletons begin to fully animate, pushing aside the heavy chains from the table.

"Okay, get on" the skeletons say together

The metal on the table is so cold, it feels like pins pushing into my body. I am naked.

The blade above me begins to rotate like a saw- the noise like a banshee screaming into an echo chamber.

I close my eyes and accept my fate. At least I'm not alone.

[This piece was created to reflect the inside of my mind. For a long time I thought I did deserve a life I couldn't escape- I felt stuck, sad, and lacked control. I thought my life was going to be that way forever, and I accepted it. However, we do have to power to change. We do have the power to say no to the skeletons and walk away! We are so much more powerful than we think, we just have to believe.]
