I was never a pretty girl or a beautiful woman, and I feel much more comfortable behind the camera. Committing myself to an image that others can see and comment on feels terribly intimate and revealing. This image is part of a larger series of mostly selfies. Selfies allow me to control my image, which -- while it still feels very uncomfortable -- is the image I want to put out in the world.
The marks on this image are asemic writing, a form of writing that requires the viewer to assign meaning themself.
