Information

The Cherokee Nation believed that because so many treaties were broken by the white man that white man's written words were like leaves. When they were no longer of use their words and treaties withered and died. Violation of The 1785 Treaty of Hopewell by white settlers and the US Government is the basis for the term "Talking Leaves".
