Information

This was one of the first pieces I made during lockdown. Like many of us, I took up a hobby and started doing yoga. That process obviously exposed me to certain imagery. Nothing I hadn't seen before but for whatever reason it just started to appeal to me more and became something I wanted to play with. I thought about alignment and the other things that cause me to travel in and out of that state. The seasons are a prime catalyst for my own spiritual being, with the extreme heat of a Florida summer and the extreme cold of a New York winter both plunging me into horrific seasonal depression while the more mild weather of spring and fall ease me back to life and allow me a respite from my seemingly constant suffering. Ultimately this piece is about my own personal struggle to find an environment wherein I can find peace and feel happy year round rather than waiting around for it to come by like a horse on a carousel, here in an instant and gone in a flash . The metallic tones in the middle anchor everything as metal is both strong and malleable simultaneously- another metaphor. The elements all blend together to create something greater than the sum of its parts which is again something I project upon myself.
