The painting deals with duality starting from the concept of Anima-Animus, developed by the psychoanalyst Jung and, by extension, sexual ambiguity, notions of hybrid, androgynous and hermaphrodite. The «expressionist» plastic way evokes the meanders of the inner journey, of identity disorder.
The shreds of paper represent the strata of the unconscious from which would arise, melted into a single intersex character, symbol of an identity of opposites, The anima representing the unconscious feminine part of the masculine, the animus the unconscious masculine part of the feminine. The present writing seems automatic, fruit of an unconscious difficult to decipher. In the background of paper eaten by snails, flowers, corals... living beings with the attributes of both sexes.
Body and face have raw lines and scars, evoking the difficulty of being oneself with strength and pride in all its dimensions and the wounds that this journey entails.
The base of the face is taken from an ancient photo with a Berlin cabaret aesthetic from the late 1930s, space or number of «ambiguous» individuals were able to live and create freely. One also perceives a round shape of what could be the masculine or feminine symbol, but it is neither one nor the other and strong primary colors rub shoulders and mix.
