Information

Newsprint Divinity is a tribute to the Carousel Girls from the 1978 movie, The Wiz. They had a tiny part in the Tin Man's song, "What Would I Do If I Could Feel" but they left a lasting impression. This piece captures the spirit of their subtle but divine performance.
This carousel girl came to life from the pages of a newspaper, imbued with the power to bring joy and wonder to the world. Through the use of paper mache, styrofoam, and newspaper, she now has a three-dimensional form, as if she stepped out of the flat surface of the newsprint and into our reality.

Overall, Newsprint Divinity is a celebration of creativity, imagination, and the beauty that can be found in unexpected places. It invites the viewer to contemplate the power of art to transport us to new worlds and to connect us with the divine.
