broken mirror, cardboard, tin
7'x2.5'
Drawing from my own personal issues and how connected I have been with so many working through their own issues that mirrored mine, this figure is truly meant to represent all of us. When you look into her face and see yours in her place, it places you into her world. But her world that you're looking at is a reflection of the one we live in. Each one of us has our own past traumas, hang-ups, insecurities, baggage... our own brokenness. Her body is made of cardboard, representing how fragile we each can be; easily scuffed, tattered, and torn, under any number of circumstances. But no matter how weathered and damaged we may become along the way, it's important to know that we are all still beautiful people - that the brokenness of this world does not destroy us... and our perseverance only makes us that much more beautiful. Most importantly, no matter how hard things get, no matter what you're working through, you are never alone. You're beautiful and you're loved, and I hope each one of you reading this truly knows that.
