I lived in Palm Beach County for almost my whole life and visited the Juno Beach Pier many times. But rarely did I bring a camera with me. Living in Tampa now, I wish I had. So when my wife and I were planning to visit the area, I decided to make the effort to try to get a nice sunrise image at the pier.
Getting a nice sunrise shot is always a roll of the dice. You never really know what you’ll get. I am not a morning person, but I pushed myself to get up early to get down to the beach.
I settled on a nice composition that included a good amount of the pier, beach, and water. As it got lighter more people started arriving at the beach to see the sunrise. And, of course, many of these folks decided the best place to stand was right in front of my camera. This is a big beach with lots of space. I’m 6’4” and had my camera on a tripod so it’s not like no one could see me.
So, I moved my camera and tripod a little closer to the beach, so no one was in front of me. A few minutes later a few more people decided to stand in front of me, again, I moved. This scenario repeated itself until I was at the water’s edge! All the while the sun is starting to come up and I am trying to get usable images while I keep repositioning.
Fortunately, it turned out to be a beautiful sunrise. I was very happy to get this image after the whole ordeal.
