My friend Annie calls this the "Happy Tree", and so it is. Driving down a country road, I saw it standing bravely, all alone. As I worked on the photo, I accented the darkness surrounding it, and the light emanating below it. In our uncertain world, the dark forest looms large, but the little tree is unafraid.
