Art is all about ideas. Working digitally allows immediacy in working with ideas. A personal experience can be captured as a photo, brought into art apps where it can be distilled, manipulated, and transformed so it becomes a more personal memory to me and a unique experience to the viewer.
My name is Jack Tovey. I'm a retired Art teacher from Pinellas County schools. Ever since my graduate work at USF I have focused on using digital technology to teach and create Art.
As a teacher I taught students how to take digital photographs and use them to create digital art on computers and eventually on iPads. While teaching them I also experimented and learned how to use different programs to manipulate and transform images.
As an Artist , working digitally, I love the way that I'm actually able to work with light directly instead of trying to replicate light in pigment.
The most important part of my creative process is to use my life experiences, captured with digital photos, and transform them with digital tools so that I can create a piece that shows the world in a different way
