Violet Vulva
Buried in snow
Trampled under foot
Quietly she waits
In spring she rises
Her power undiminished
Tendrils reaching
Green unfurling
strength gathering
Bursting into bloom
Creating life
Filling the world
Theresa Sahhar moved from Virginia to Kansas as a teenager. She blooms where she is planted. She lives on a small farm where she has created 5 acres of butterfly habitat, and keeps bees and hens. The lush woods of North Eastern Kansas explode with wildflowers in early Spring. Theresa says about her piece "Violet Vulva": The pandemic has given me a chance to spend more time enjoying nature and exploring creativity in new ways. I am inspired to celebrate the power and beauty of being female by everything around me. We plant, we nurture, we grow,we bring great pleasure to the world. We are reminded that rebirth is possible for all of us.
