I make art because I believe we all should try to create something beautiful in the world. Or odd. Or interesting. In some of my work, I pay homage to my ancestors by adorning their photographs. I am also inspired by dreams, and believe that the dream world is as real as the waking one. I make all of my collages out of cast of National Geographic magazines, because they have the best colors and creatures and photographs.
Erica Bryant is a collage artist whose surreal, mosaic creations are inspired by ancestors and dreams. She believes art shakes the dust off the mind and soul, and has equal love for conscious and unconscious creativity. She takes inspiration from folklore, outer space and various reptiles. She is self-taught and uses found materials and photographs. She was born in Rochester, New York, during a mid-April snow storm.
