Artist Statement

My art is an exercise in mental health healing, helping me to deal with my struggles with anxiety, depression and PTSD. Three years ago I completed a 365-day challenge, to produce work every day. And for accountability, I shared it on social media, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. This has brought on a growing following for my work. I work in abstracts as well as realism. Most of my abstracts are rendered in oils and acrylics. While my realism is rendered in graphite and colored pencils.
In my abstracts I deal with depicting the realm of immortality and the myths of the afterlife.
My realisms are mostly renderings of portraits and figures uncovering the stories they have to tell and each face and figure has a story to tell it is my job to reveal that to the viewer.

Biography

Artist statement

I began drawing at a very young age, never stopping and finding motivation in a statement from my 3rd grade teacher that I would never be an artist. I'm a self taught artist only having attended one college art class. I am now 57 years old
