Art is about experimentation, but not wild and untamed experimentation. It's more of a scientific endeavor or a systematic process of discovery. Each painting is not only an experimental journey into the physical materials but it is also a study of how the finished product creates certain feelings within the observer. Often, my work has a textured look that is incorporated into the theme of the painting. The themes and meanings of the work explore the inner workings of the mind with a strong inspiration from my studies as a Psychology student.
I've always been an artist but when it came to college I decided to study Psychology and Biomedical Science. A decision I often regret, as I believe I would have been better off focusing on Architecture or Art, because I believe that is my true passion. I currently work as a Chemistry teacher and as an artist. Over the last few years, I've decided to pursue my dream and one day work as a full time artist. I've always had a talent for sketching and I begun painting with acrylics and oils in high school. My earlier work focused on realism. I painted mostly still lifes such as wine bottles and whiskey bottles, where I worked on technique and getting a better understanding of the materials. I started selling my realism work through Instagram, and that's where I realized that art is where I really should be. Over the next few years, my work slowly transitioned into a blend of realism and abstraction.
