As an artist and a psychology professor, I examine experiences associated with women’s lived experiences. In my art, I have drawn on different facets of being a woman, including the sensual and the empowering. In recent years, I have been working on a series of boundary breaking women, including Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Aretha Franklin, Frida Kahlo, Amy Winehouse, Audrey Hepburn, Lee Miller, Amanda Gorman, Iris Apfel, and Kamala Harris. I have been selling this work on stylish muscle tees, and it makes me so happy to see women wearing my artistic depictions of women who inspire me.
Jamie Lynn Goldenberg is an artist and a Psychology Professor at USF. Across both disciplines her goal is the same – to explore deeply rooted psychological experiences with a specific emphasis on experiences of women.
Jamie is a New Yorker by birth and mindset, and although she has not officially lived there for many years, she spent this last year on a sabbatical living in an artist’s loft in the New York City Seaport, creating and appreciating art.
Just a couple of months ago she made St Pete her new home (after a number of years in South Tampa) and could not be happier. Her new residence and art studio is in the historic Snell Arcade and she is ready to embrace all that St Pete has to offer.
In addition to painting, Jamie has been a speaker at St. Pete’s Dali Museum, including giving a featured presentation during the exhibit, Lee Miller: The Woman Who Broke Boundaries.
Jamie’s artwork celebrating women can also be found in a local boutique (Cozette’s Boutique) on stylish muscle tees.
