When I studied at The School of Visual Arts years ago, their tagline was: "Good Is Not Enough When You Dream Of Being Great." That concept resonated deeply with me, both as an art director and as an artist. Everything I create has to pass my "Is it great?" test. My idea of great may be different than most because one of the prerequisites for me is - is it unique? Does it tell an interesting story? Throughout my more than twenty years in advertising, I learned that in order to sell a product or service your ad must stand out, and never be ordinary.
I was raised by an artist-mother with the same principle. She used to paint murals of butterflies and flowers throughout our home - with vines creeping along the ceiling, Her bright flowers eventually became my flowers, as her uniqueness became part of my DNA. From the fantastical flowers to the spirit animals to the abstract photographs that I "paint" digitally, my goal is always the same: Does it tell an interesting story? One that I would love.
About the Artist: Adrienne Anbinder
Adrienne, a Brooklyn native, is inspired by the natural world and the secrets that nature holds.
With every mixed-media image that Adrienne creates, her goal is to tell an evocative story. Every flower, every object, has a message hidden within. Anbinder believes that unearthing its secrets is key to creating unique, provocative imagery.
Her fine art hangs in homes across the country, from Atlanta to New York to Palm Beach. Her photographs have been featured in New York at Gallery 104, 1stdibs Design Showroom, and on websites such as New York Arts and Artography Limited. Her art has a permanent home in Georgia at the Chatt Hills Gallery in Serenbe, and at the Collective Art Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.
Last summer, Anbinder created a fine art collector's limited-edition book of flowers called FlowerStory. Her silk-wrapped collection features ten personal floral stories accompanied by over fifty one-of-a-kind flower portraits, each one printed on fine art paper, suitable for framing.
