Jack Harrington

Artist Statement

Source of inspiration: dreams and observing the interactions of people with each other and/or the environment.

Working process: images are filtered through photos and my sketch books. The resulting rough image is composed in a finished drawing and transferred onto heavy water color paper. These mixed media pieces are painted with water colors, acrylic, inks, and collage. I work with brushes, pens, fingers, etc.

Degrees: B.S. Univ. of Wis.-Milwaukee, M.F.A. So. Ill. Univ.-Edwardsville
Administrative and Teaching Experience: 1985-88, Univ. of Arkansas at Little Rock, Chair and Associate Professor of Art
Awards: 1988-Hereward Lester Cook Foundation, Artist in mid career grant
Exhibitions: 14 One person shows; 40 Group shows, including Outdoor Contemporary Installation competition, Shidoni Gallery, Tesuque, New Mexico and Passages and Places, a traveling print exhibition.
