Artist Statement

My art is like my mind, a creative collage of color, music and ramblings. I am an intuitive artist and often feel like a divine source muse works through me and with me bringing its choices onto the canvas. It takes on a life of its own. With a disability, I enjoy bringing in a lot of color and the designs and process in general comforts me and ignites purpose. Often stories will emerge where none were intended.
In the clouds of an abstract and wildly creative mind, I love bringing color and sometime absurdness to my art with a spirit of play. To make normal things perhaps look funny or ridiculous. I start by having a general idea and it always changes, is always swirling and moving like the patterns I have seen since my youth.
My favorite medium is acrylic on large canvas. My process involves preparing the surface, layering it with tissue or light paper to build a foundation. I like to create texture and layering using heavy body paints and collage. I can later come in with markers, pastels, crayon or other mediums as I am flexible. I can envision order, art and aesthetics in the physical world and with people where there is none or lacking. I am able to randomly draw, dance and create when prompted without preparation. I am always singing and have music in my head. Being a naturally creative person I am open to all things creative for the rest of my life and to always live this flexible existence!
I am looking forward to having this be the first of many Exhibitions and to continue painting and trying different approaches.
