My work is vulnerable invasive and visceral. It allows me to discover myself and explore new media. I find that when I'm working it is liberating and cathartic. I am exploring the interaction of the phenomena of nature, and human psyche often within the sensational realm of the somatic and spiritual union.
I believe there is a universality between all living things, and the energy that connects us, consciously and unconsciously, weaves a thread of light that spiritually binds us to each other and the world around us. Our experiences affect our entire being and bleed out into our existence. I am always asking questions and building a new vernacular through the exploration of media and research. This vernacular includes self-empowerment, healing, understanding the psychosexual, and Socio-ecological while also engaging with the personal as poetic. I continually use my work to consider the notion of identity, and beauty, both as psycho-social, physical and the spiritual. While my work is highly personal, I also find great value in the experiences of those who interact with it.
As a multidisciplinary artist working with soil, clay, sand, paper, and other unconventional media, I am constantly exploring new art forms through painting, writing, spoken word, photography, my own body as a medium, and videography. Through my work I am accessing and embodying energy, which has become a dialectical conversation of gesture and body language. I am asking questions of myself, and my medium, continually in search of a deeper understanding of who I am, my oneness with nature and the intimate relationships cultivated through my art.
Jamie Moon, Artist. Educator, student.
Originally from Tennessee, I transplanted to Colorado in 2015 and obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from Colorado State University-Pueblo in 2018. I recently completed my Master of Fine Arts Degree from Sierra Nevada University in summer of 2021, and I am currently pursuing my PhD in Psychophysiology from Saybrook University.
I am a working visual artist who specializes in emotionally driven and intuitive photography, sculpture and earth paintings while also teaching art to children and adults in my home studio and remotely across the country. My background lies specifically in working with children and adults who are gifted with brain based special needs such as Autism, Asperger's, and recovery from psychological or somatic trauma. I have recently been described as "a talented and dedicated, educator, artist and creative advocate".
My future goals include combining my knowledge of the psychological and spiritual with my art and education background to build a practice of creative therapies that will assist anyone with a desire for healing and transformation, as well as artistic exploration to engage, heal, and succeed. I also plan to continue pursuing my own artistic career through interactive installation, speaking opportunities, teaching, creating published works and gallery showings.
