Creating, as for so many people, is an important part of my life. Whether it be a visual art such as painting, mixed media or photography; musical as in playing an instrument or songwriting; writing prose or poetry, I find I am happiest and yet most frustrated during these activities. I often wish I had exceptional talent in one area or another. However, given this is not the case, I continue to explore and experiment. Perhaps the key to my joy is to enjoy the ride of the process. The output will be what it is, the inner critic be damned.
Through making mixed media collages over the past few years, I believe my forte is making visual poetry. Last year, I took a trip across the country during the pandemic, traveling in my Prius V (station wagon) to have as small a carbon footprint as possible on this adventure. During the trip, I took many photos and found most of them went into the art shot folder.
Beautiful scenery lends itself to beautiful pictures, however I was looking for the unusual. The few times that I was successful, were a thrill. Finding a prop of the sort that could provide assistance with creating the unusual was a gift. I wanted to share my experiment in this show.
