Artist Statement

My art work incorporates my love of impressionism, color, textures and the beauty of the tropics I see daily. I mostly paint with other artists in classes or open studios. I prefer larger canvases, free style tools and straight edges using acrylic paints, mediums and other mixed media. My images may come from my photos, friends photos, my environment or imagination/inspiration of teachers.

I prefer painting standing up for hours, moving freely, using paint liberally on large canvases, with large free style tools along with other artists providing input. The tools I use create a different style rather than realistic painting. I call it edge painting.

I hope my audience can appreciate the color, techniques, textures, movement and subjects of my art.

Biography

Vicky Lada lives her dream. Her dream was always to be an artist. She paints with acrylic media creating paintings while learning from teachers and fellow artists. Her favorite subjects are sunrise/sunset seascapes in vivid colors. She paints the beauty of God's creation with a variety of tools.
Born March 8, 1949, she spent a sweet childhood in Lake County, Illinois, on a historical 90-acre health resort/farm. Her artistic dreams were always encouraged by Mom, and Dad liked to paint watercolor landscapes. She loved all the art classes in high school and college she could take. Instead of an art major, she obtained an AA in Retail Management from Orange Coast College in California in 1969, then a BS Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at California State University Chico in 1975. For 40 years with a career, being a wife and Mom were priorities. She loved taking art classes and visiting art galleries wherever she traveled: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Caribbean. She would always tell herself "My dream is to paint when I retire."
Finally, in 2015, that day arrived. She joined the Sebastian River Art Club. She painted with a variety of teachers and enjoyed it all! She served as the Club treasurer, one of the teachers and showed in almost all club art shows. Also, a member of the Christ Cultural Center show in Frist Friday Art Stroll, Vero Beach.
