Artist Statement

Most of my work is abstract or experimental with many pieces featuring themes of nature. As the climate of the planet rapidly changes, I continue to make pieces that focus on the natural world and the joys it brings us. I hope to connect people to the world through the pieces I've completed and will work on in the future. Some of them have even been inspired after coming across studies or articles related to the declining health of our planet. The act of creation has helped me cope with the stresses of the past and the worries of the future so I intend for my art to do the same for others.

Biography

I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Infamous in childhood for drawing on or coloring things that shouldn't have been. From 4th grade through high school I was able to attend public schools that centered the arts. I started painting with acrylics and watercolor around 11 years old mostly at home or in my free time between rehearsals. Since I mostly focused on theater in my studies, I'd often have scripts full of little drawings and sketches on the backs and covers of scripts or leave just enough room in the margins for show directions between doodles. Through high school, I took more interest in the design aspects of theater and created a lot of the scenery for different plays. This allowed me a lot more time and different mediums to explore my interest in art and painting. After graduating, I was stuck in a limbo of stress for years. When I was really lucky, I had the energy to paint or write or create anything including a small garden I barely kept alive and that is what kept me present. Now at 24, I am beginning to show more of my work to the world. Though a lot has changed about me in that time, my love of creation has never stopped. I began with paintings of flowers and natural environments as a kid and these themes remain as my favorites to focus on as they have taken on more unique and otherworldly forms in my work.
