In my art, I like to give a second life to the things that humans throw away. Everything in this world deserves a second change at becoming more than what they originally were. Becoming part of something great, something people will look at and maybe admire, but more importantly question. A plastic spoon used once and thrown away, a ketchup packet life squeezed from it and a simple card board box found in the trash - they all have one thing in common, the desire to become important again. That is what makes me feel important, giving life to inanimate objects that just want to be.
I have never considered myself an "artist" until one day someone walked into my shop (What Goes Around Vintage Thrift) and said "who is the artist", I said I guess I am. Since that day, I have embraced being an artist! I know my pieces are dark, disturbing and sometimes make no sense at all but that's who I am. My pieces are not for everybody and I seldom sell my pieces (LOL), but I still go forward with making art that makes me feel good and sometimes deep, again LOL. I am so happy when someone comments on my pieces and asks me how did I come up with that. My answer is, I usually don't know - once I start working, the piece, it takes a mind of its own. I love to create "layers" of thought and thats why I dive into mixed media, it gives me the forum to express myself in the many layers that I am.
