Artist Statement

I would characterize my artistic style as dreamy, playful, expressive, and sensorially-inclined. I enjoy creating work that is abstract as I find that it allows me to express deeply personal feelings, sensations, and experiences through color and texture, both of which are integral to my artistic process. My work in collage is generally more conceptual than my work in other mediums, often dealing with themes of magic, mysticism, and sexuality. I am endlessly fascinated with the ephemerality of analog collage, which causes me to seek out unique physical materials as often as I can.

Biography

LES RA (Lily Stanley) is an artist who specializes in mixed media work including painting, collage, and print-making. Born and raised in St. Petersburg, Florida, they developed a love for creating art at an early age, following suit after their artistically inclined older siblings. They attended Gibbs High School as a Visual Arts Major within the PCCA magnet program, where they were awarded a duo show exhibiting their senior body of work "BLOOM" at the Morean Arts Center. They currently work at the Gulfport Arts Center, a public art gallery and studio, where they run free art workshops for all ages as well as regularly host community art exhibitions.
