My intention is to create art from my soul in the hopes that it whispers a message to another. That is the magic of art. That moment where total strangers meet with a tiny spark connecting them. That's why I have called my social media pages Art n Soul. I hope to meet you there.
Originally from Buffalo NY, I now reside in New Port Richey Florida with my husband. I applied to art school after high school only to be told "You are not good enough." Those words have resurfaced more often than I care to admit. So life goes on, marriage, children and eventually grandchildren. Several nondescript jobs along the way. Everything changed in 2020. After the onset of the pandemic, my friend, Hope, encouraged me to join her in a 100 day project. She suggested I try finger painting much like Iris Scott. So I semi reluctantly played along. With supplies in hand I began finger painting. I posted my progress on social media and before long, people asked me to paint their pets or a favorite photo. I had found an interesting niche that seemed to resonate with my friends. As time passed my chucky fingers couldn't capture the detail I had hoped to achieve. Do I dare pick up a brush? I'm just not good enough! Finally ignoring a professor's decree that had imprisoned me for decades , I broke free. I claimed a tiny space in the vast world of art. I have finally reached a placed where I can comfortably call myself an artist. I have been a been member of the Tarpon Art guild , and thePasco fine arts council. I regularly enter my work in local shows and occasionally covet an award. It is like a dream come true. My childhood dream of becoming an artist has been realized and I will never take that for granted.
