Michael Mattox

Artist Statement

I am a mostly self taught artist living in St. Petersburg, Florida. I enjoy working in watercolors, pen and ink and conte crayon. I’ve been attending figure drawing sessions for several years now. I find figure drawing a way to escape my worry’s and troubles for a couple of hours. Yet it is always a challenge to accurately capture the model’s pose and emotion.

Biography

I have been painting and drawing in the St. Petersburg, Florida area for many years now. I studied art at Northern Illinois University. I am mostly self taught. I enjoy watercolor painting as well as working in pen & ink and conte crayons. Often combining the mediums together.
