Artist Statement

Hello, Collaborator.

I have the rather unconventional belief that, although I am the artist, and I did make these images, that you, the see-er of my art, are my collaborator. You bring your life's experiences, your values and journey to this moment. And all that changes my work into our work.

We are together in the moment when you look. I find this very comforting, because the aloneness that I have felt my entire life is no longer true. Art makes US the ultimate truth.

Biography

Clare is an emerging artist who uses photographic images and asemic writing to share experiences with the people who view her work. Her work is conceptual, intuitive, and atmospheric, and relies on composition in the camera and the transfer process to give additional meaning to the images. She is endlessly curious, and constantly exploring new processes and materials in her art. The themes that intrigue her are centered on sense-making, understanding the nature of beauty, and making peace with impermanence and loss.

Clare ives in the Tampa Bay area. She is a life-long meditator, and that practice informs her work.
