Artist Statement

My intent is to transform a common scene into something new and stunning that will leave the viewer with feelings of surprise and joy. I am constantly thinking about composition, harmony, colors, texture and movement. I want to capture a mood, an impression of a place, an expression of my feelings. I constantly push myself to discover new techniques. I find excitement in doing different themes and styles shifting from medium to medium. I think of my paintings as an invitation to each viewer to look beneath the surface and to uncover new ways of encountering themselves and their world, rich with possibility.

Biography

Katra lives and works in her home studio in Largo, Florida. She has been a Florida resident since 1978. Her work as an artist and teacher has been in all mediums. Oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics. They lay in wait on her working tables for the next creation. Katra has attended many workshops and classes to enhance her skills as an artist. She does not limit herself to one type of art. She paints in all styles from abstract to realism. Katra has been in many art shows and won awards throughout Florida. She recently received The Peoples Choice award at the Beach Art Center in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
