Artist Statement

I studied painting during the late sixties and mid seventies. During that time, there was a lot of tension between objective painting (realism) and non-objective (abstract painting). This tension continues to be revealed in my work. I use high-keyed, bright colors and design elements typical of more abstract work but remain with realistic subjects with mood and very human qualities . My selection of subject matter used can come from either of these elements.
