I love what I do and never take it for granted. I am excited by colors, textures and love to allow the process to transport me to where I am going . So many times , once a painting is completed, I look at it and think to my self , " I never saw that coming! " When I begin a painting, I may have a literal concept, but so often with art, the subconscious is really running the show. So I allow myself to have fun, and explore every painting as if it is the first. It is unchartered territory and there is always so much potential!
My art began in the classroom teaching high school students. Although I never taught an art class, although many students said I should. Instead, i taught English and reading, and keeping busy after school because there were always school-wide projects for the many different clubs I sponsored. That is where the painting came in. I found that I was handy with murals and posters! I was a shoe-in for making or drafting eye catching material and the word spread quickly. Once that was known, it began to grow into many more projects that branched to theater, musicals, and specific projects for Sandy Hook Promise, Peer Mediation, Gay Straight Alliance and the Multi-Cultural Club. After a few years, of doing this I learned that I enjoyed the process of painting and began painting at home for fun. As a professional musician, I never even dreamt that I could also be a painter! Fast forward, I am currently doing shows each month and entered curated shows as well.
