I am a self-trained absurdist artist. I try to create the kind of art that I would want to see. I compensate for my lack of technical skills with humor, bright colors, overconfidence, and an extreme lack of self awareness. The initial phase of my works typically develops while I talk on the phone with people at work. My mind is focused on my work, but my hands doodle (nonstop). I take the sketched out drawings and elaborate on them, polish them up, and eventually they turn out to be utter crap, which I then frame and call art work.
Arty Carbuncle is the alter ego of award winning novelist Lance Carbuncle (who himself is an alter ego). Arty writes, draws, paints, and generally creates works that aim to elicit a strong reaction, whether it be disgust, love, hate, happiness, or outrage. There is always an underlying humor in Arty's works (although it may be the case that Arty is the only one who ever gets the joke). Arty works in a stream of consciousness manner, shutting down his thoughts and letting his hands bring to life whatever he can dredge up from his troubled subconscious. Arty is not dark or dangerous, just a little weird maybe. He is happy to talk with you and will awkwardly and insufficiently answer any questions you may have about his art.
