Artist Statement

I paint intuitively and often am inspired by vivid dreams that I have. I use color to create mood and large paint strokes to create a sense of movement in my work. My color choices are influenced both by my surroundings and Cuban heritage, and my art practice is meditative for me and helps me to understand society and my feelings thru dramatic dream- like Floridian landscapes.

Biography

Melissa is a native to the area and self-taught acrylic artist. She began her painting journey 3 years ago and has had her work featured in local juried shows at St. Pete Artworks, Morean Art Center, Atetlier Di Sosi, Carrollwood Cultural Art Center, Five Deuces gallery, and Art Center of Manatee.
