Artist Statement

Last year I got the crazy idea to try and organize the thousands of photos in my phone, many taken while exploring Florida. There's everything from touristy travel to backyard bugs and random eye candy. While deleting lots of junk, I kept coming across pictures that lacked impact but still had "something" about them. They might be blurry or boring, but maybe there was decent lighting or a ghost of a memory. To share how these moments felt and not just the realistic image, I tweaked them a bit before printing onto canvas. Some still weren't quite telling the right story. Coloring with India inks and acrylics brought them closer to the atmosphere I was imagining.

Biography

Stacey Merrill Iives in Tampa, Primarily self taught, I enjoy working in a variety of mediums - years ago, lots of sculpture, found objects and charcoal portraits. More recently photography, digital art, acrylics and inks.
