As an artist, I often explore ideas about American culture and I am especially interested in the past. My paintings often depict nostalgic items that can stir up memories from my viewers. I enjoy combining both realism and abstraction, often within the same work. I also like to combine classic oil painting techniques with contemporary subject matter. My mixed-media work combines elements of photography, printmaking, and painting, all through an intuitive mark making process, which is loose and expressive. I love that it can never be replicated in exactly the same way.
