Artist Statement

Biography

Yuan Li, as a retiree turned artist, discovered her passion for painting under the guidance of Tim Widener's class in 2014, "Painting Light." Her artistic journey has been marked by multiple selections in the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center (BBAC)'s yearly student show, showcasing her evolving skills.

Guided by the belief that art transcends borders, Yuan's oil paintings seamlessly blend landscapes and portraits, fostering a shared sense of peace and happiness. Her work serves as a bridge, connecting people from diverse backgrounds. Some of her paintings, which feature Chinese elements, have resonated with many people from different cultural backgrounds. Yuan's art underscores the profound understanding and connection that art can foster across cultures. In essence, Yuan Li's artistic expression is a purposeful celebration of the interconnected human experience, using brushes and colors to construct bridges of unity and introspection.
