Karol Hilker created this large face to stare calmly into the room, overpowering the viewer with size and gaze. The eyes patiently accept the viewers scrutiny while a resigned smile is on the lips. Drips run into the face but they seem used to it. We can't gather tradition information such as their gender, race, occupation, education or financial level from this view of them. That outer information isn't presented but the usually unseen layers are exposed. We get to see the inner beauty we all possess from everything that has created us. Nothing is hidden
The layers are created with drips of acrylic paint, solid and transparent color, cut canvas, wires, and white buttons. These techniques were chosen to creat a balance of pain and peace.
