Alejandra Gonzalez Diaz began this piece right before she lost her job in 2021. She'd purchased the canvas then and wasn't entirely sure what she wanted to paint. Losing her job twice was the fuel she needed to start.
There is a lot of anger in this painting, but the ending is happy. You can see a lot of that pain and desperation in the brush strokes. This is a piece where she put it down a lot and kept coming back to when she felt passionate enough to continue.
Alejandra in 2021 must have applied to at least 300 jobs and had about seven different interviews total. She pushed through the adversity despite her insecurities and not having much help. But, there came a moment when she realized she couldn't sit around and wait for opportunities to present themselves to her, and she had to play a big part in rewriting her destiny and start opening her own damn doors!
