I developed this style after I severed two fingers on my dominant hand and rendered the index finger useless. In re-teaching myself how to draw and paint at 61 years old I found I couldn't hold the brush long enough to do intricate work, so I perfected this tone type of painting. I never title or frame my work. My subjects are all portraits that explore the beauty of movement, emotion, and color. I feel a frame restricts the flow of movement and emotion in my art, and a title instantly directs the viewer to a specific emotion. Look at the face, decide what is happening behind those closed eyes. Immerse yourself in what she has to tell you personally.
