Young Mallakhamb performers at Gurukulam Shiksha in Ahmedabad, India.
Mallakhamb is a very demanding sport practiced in India. The name itself means "Wrestling Pole" and many consider it a precursor to modern-day "Pole-dancing".
Performers are incredibly disciplined and develop beautiful physiques as a result of the demanding poses.
Though competition is considered a trait of masculinity by many people, teamwork can be just as much so. Interestingly, mallakhamb is performed differently by girls as their poses are done from a suspended rope rather than a pole from the ground.
