Information

This piece, the second completed and uppermost of the triptych, is my attempt to interpret and integrate the profound alteration in consciousness and peak spiritual experience induced by ingesting psylocibin- containing mushrooms at age 18. Tough I did not begin this work until almost four years after, it was so significant that many of the insights and incongruencies in normal waking consciousness remained vivid and impactful.
The initial experience had led to deeper and wider exploration into the nature of consciousness and perception; it is this insatiable curiosity and desire to understand that ultimately afforded me the mental conceptions and developed symbols to better interpret my experience.
Some of the more developed symbolic elements in this work include an interpretation of the tree of life in the lower right corner, each Sephiroth represented in a sphere; within the skull in the center of the piece is a serpent lit with seven different colored spots, biting the pineal glad, referring to kundalini yoga, and its chakra systems. The ohm is on the mouth and parts of lips representing the sacred, fundamental sound. There are wheels with 8 spokes behind the face representing the wheels of life.
