This stunning and vibrant painting features the Aztec/Maya goddess of fertility and beauty, Xochiquetzal. She is the precious flower that parent discovers in child. She is all the hope and fear and the overwhelming realization of the greatest and most dreadful potentials. She is that loss of breath, that panic we all feel knowing we are not good enough to protect them from all the harms the world may, and inevitably will inflict upon them. Its our knowledge that they will fall and they will bleed and they will cry, and there is not within us the capacity to save them from it all.
