I earned a BFA with studies at Temple University and Rosemont College. My work has evolved from figurative to abstract and symbolic. I am interested in a variety of mediums including steel sculpture, assemblage, charcoal, painting and collage. Mathematical concepts and diagrams are often featured. Currently I am working on a series of Horizon paintings on paper featuring the redaction of the rectangle and formulas for locating oneself on the horizon. Albers, Rembrandt and Rothko are among my favorite artists.
Originally from Long Island, New York, Margaret currently calls Tampa Bay home. Born 1950, she has lived and studied art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Siena, Italy. Travels abroad in Ireland, Canada, Mexico, France and the Caribbean have influenced her work.
Earlier in her career she exhibited in Pennsylvania at the Salon des Amis Gallery with nationally known artists, Harry Anderson, Smokey Kittner and Qimin Lui.
More recently, as a resident of Tampa her work was included in group and solo exhibitions at the now defunct Gold Dragon Gallery and Mathews Gallery. Local Art Consultant, Katherine Gibson noticed her work and included her in group exhibitions with Art House.
Margaret has spent the past 25 years teaching Art and Art History in public and private schools. Retiring last year has allowed her the time to return to creating art and writing poetry.
