"Grace"
"Grace" takes our minds to the mutable and radical 90's supermodel icon Grace Jones. A very explicit-forward-looking personality that embodies both genders unapologetically.
In 1981 the photographer Jean-Paul Goude, once Jones's sentimental partner, shot what it was going to be Jones's album cover, Nightclubbing. The flat top, the squared shoulder pads accentuating even more Jones's angled cheek bones and that unlit cigarette dangling from the right corner of the mouth. It was striking as it was unconventional.
"Grace" was created with Jones energy as inspiration. Her mysterious yet in-your-face aura were the starting point of this piece. "Grace" is not Jones, "Grace" is the unclassifiable force of nature that a sector of this society can't box in.
"Grace" is a mixed media piece made on 300 gsm cold pressed Fabriano watercolor paper, and is composed of a vintage magazine collage, different dry media and acrylic soft body paints and acrylic spray paint, mounted on a cradled wood panel made by the artist.
